EMERGENCY RESPONSE
One or more of the following situations could arise in the course of operation: serious injuries, fire disaster, falling off and/or lifting operation accident, road traffic accident personnel drowning, armed robbery attack, blow out/explosions.
The following procedures are normally applied in such cases:
- In case of serious injury, the personnel are trained, to call for help and state location, condition of patient and the extent of assistance required.
- In case of serious fire outbreak, personnel are trained to raise alarm (shout: fire! fire!) or operate alarm system, phone the fire and security department for assistance, attempt to put off the fire (if possible, without putting life at risk). Use nearest available and applicable fire equipment
Employees must work briskly and assemble at a muster point without panic
- Personnel are encouraged not to go back inside the site, either to recover personal properties or rescue a colleague, once an emergency situation has been discovered and declared
- An head count is conducted to ascertain that all employees have been rescued
- In case there are missing employees the rescue team will swing into action
- Assistance from any necessary government agencies will be sought. As such we will have the contact numbers of such agencies as the Police and the Fire Service conspicuously displayed on site
- All the injured will be evacuated to the Medical Centre
- The site will be cordoned off
- An investigation will be carried out and a report made
- Employees will not return to site until a clearance has been given to do so probably in writing by a competent personnel (Project Manager)
